Catch Up Post

So many little things to post about.  I've gotten behind.  So this weeks goal is to get caught up.  No one told me how crazy life would get with older kids.  I thought little kids was time consuming.  It's just labor intensive.  Older kids are time consuming.  But in a good way.  So anyway, here it goes.  I hosted book club and we read The Gollem and the Jinni.  I thought it would be fun to make challa bread since the main character works in a Jewish bakery.  I got the recipe on allrecipes.  When it called for 11 cups of flour my brain should have kicked in and said to half it.  But it didn't.  This picture doesn't accurately show the scale of this loaf of bread.  It lasted a week and a half.  It was BIG:
We like to take lots of walks.  For a few minutes there Clara claimed to like walks.  One day the kids skiied and Clara and I stayed home and went for a "double park walk"  We hit the Saddlehorn and Arrowcreek parks:
Sarah from the ward brought her hedgehogs (they breed them) to the science fair.  Not sure if they are cute or gross.  Probably gross:

A Saturday hike/bike ride.  Love love love all the trails through the desert brush.  Who knew I was such a fan of the desert?  I love it.  I love the sage brush, and the big sky:

Mario (or is it Luigi?) joined us:

It was warm.  The creek felt nice:

The YM/YW held a potato derby that was by all accounts super fun. (This was to be Tucker's first activity but he was busy barfing, very sad):

It's happening.  Registration for next year.  Lucy is registered for high school!  Honors Chem, Honors English, Algebra II, Orchestra, French, Journalism or Art, Computer Lit.  Crazy.  Tucker is registering for middle school.  Who are these kids?  I still think of myself as a playgroup/parkday mom, but I'm not.
Clara joined Girl Scouts and is a Daisy.  Good fun:
We have a yard.  The yardwork is beginning.  Last Saturday we (mostly Rob, watched by kids who pulled out chairs to sit and watch him) planted a peach, cherry, and nectarine tree.  Farming in Nevada where the dirt is rock and clay is challenging. After spring break we build and plant a garden.  I CAN'T WAIT!

The usual silliness:
The boys got invited to a party at Need 2 Speed a go cart racing place (Rob and I went once too for a friends party.  Super fun).  Tucker was nuts.  Every time you crash into someone they power you down.  Pretty sure he would have one, had it not been for that.  Super aggressive driver.  Watch out:

Lucy and Ellie played a duet (well maybe with the piano it isn't technically a duet) for New Beginnings:

Clara turned 7!

It is really hard to believe that the last seven years have just cruised by, but they have.  This little pumpkin is the best.  We love her personality, her sweetness (yes she is sweet under the sass), her humor, her intelligence, her silliness.  She is smart.  She is determined.  She knows what she wants.  She is confident.  She is loving. She is the perfect caboose. She is wonderful and we love her.

Tucker's Birthday Celebration

Tucker's birthday was on a Tuesday.  We started out with a quick trip to Doughboy's to pick up a treat for his class.  After school he patiently waited for Rob to get home from work.  He finally got to open his presents.  Then we rushed off to buzz the science fair.  Then we had a delicious dinner at Twisted Fork and then back home for cake.  Yum.  He didn't want a big friend party but on Friday he had a couple of buddies over and they had In 'N Out, had and airsoft battle, and hung out.  I think it was a good one:

 He got a mountain bike:
which can be used on all the trails around our house:

Science Fair

This year the kids school had a science fair.  The boys did individual projects and Clara's class learned about the solar system.  They worked hard and I think they did a good job:

Grammy And Pop-Pop's Visit

My parents came to visit the day after Phillip and Meagan left.  It was fun to have them.  We went on lots of beautiful walks, ate good food, and enjoyed a day driving around the lake.  These pictures aren't all in order, but I need to get caught up and fussy blogging just won't get me there :)

Mom made it through a few novels:

Our lake day was beautiful.  Calm and pleasant.
