New Years Hawaii Trip Tuesday

Tuesday was a little more low key.  In the morning we went to breakfast at Hawaiian Style Cafe.  We all shared so we actually came out even on amounts.  Kind of a miracle.  That place has HUGE serving sizes.

Then we drove to the Waipio overlook.  Wish we would have had time to do the zig zag trail hike again.

These guys were looking for a geocache again:

The boys had to ditch out because they had to do a pre drive training thing.  So the girls hit the shops in Honokaa and Gallery of Great Things back in Waimea.  Then we went on the nature trail through town with Tutu.  It was a nice walk and we enjoyed all of Tutu's favorites, like the friendly goat and the orchids.

When we were at Gallery of Great Things there were some fun honus made from shells, so Clara and Tutu made some.  Also Tutu bought Clara a hone necklace which she has worn every day since.

When the boys got back we went down to Puoko to look for turtles.  It was so funny.  I was on the beach and saw this woman who I chat with all the time when I walk Clara to school.  She takes her grandkids to school in the mornings.  Cool woman.  Used to teach chemistry at Galena, president of the Tahoe Rim Trail association, getting her pilots license.  Anyway I walked over and it was her!  They'd rented a beach house at Puoko.  And I met her daughter who lives down the street from us.  Such a fun coincidence.  Anyway, we saw our neighbors and we also saw turtles and sea cucumbers.

(the guy out there fishing is our neighbor)

New Years Hawaii Trip Monday

Monday was another perfect day.  We hiked in Pololu in the morning with Papa, and met Tutu at Mauna Kea beach in the afternoon.  I have never seen the air so clear.  We could practically see the beaches of Maui.  It was a beautiful day.  Lucy and I sat on the beach and enjoyed the waves while everyone else headed up the other side.  I was scared of mosquitos and Dengue.  Silly me.  The waves were pretty enjoyable though, so win-win I guess.

Clara took pictures, love the portrait of her in my sunglasses

A geo cacheing attempt was made, but none were found.

We picnincked at the little park near Pololu.  The waves were spectacular.

That night we ate at Pau.  I think we are all pau with Pau.  They have new owners and the food just isn't good.  Bummer.
(also had a lot of fun with slo-mo and time lapse this trip)
