Me: I had a really good dream last night.
Lu: Let me guess, you dreamt of fields of organic lettuce.

Memorial Day '08
Tradition dictates that every year the Taylor clan that is around gather at Grandma and Grandpa Taylor's grave for a picture, and of course to bring flowers. We then head to Uncle Tony's grave and then to the eccentric Crazy Grandpa George grave where the inscription reads, "you'll miss me when I'm gone." We make sure we make it to the other great-great graves as well. It is a great tradition, in my opinion, because it keeps us connected to our "roots". I also would love to see a memorial day retrospective show featuring all of the pictures in chronological order taken at the Taylor grave. Tradition also usually dictates a day at the cabin or swimming and bbqs. The heavy rain overruled those traditions this year....but fortunately for all of us, there is always next year.

A Little Sacrifice Never Hurt Anyone
(the previous title of this post got me a whoppin' number of international hits...had to change it).
No pain, no gain. It is painful to pay $60.00 to fill up the tank, but I think it is great. No I'm not crazy. We have lived so long without having to make any sacrifices that it seems that we have forgotten that sometimes the hard things may be the best things for future generations. Just think if, because of unaffordable gas prices (like in Europe), we had better bike trails, less sububan sprawl (is it too late?), better fuel alternatives, much higher fuel effeciency standards, and more reliable and accessible mass transit (like in say Japan or Europe). Expensive gas is the ticket. A girl can dream.
This article, a Friedman op-ed piece, has some good ideas, in my opinion.

The Wedding
Rob's sister Whitney got married last week. It was a perfect day. The weather hadn't been incredibly great, but Saturday the sun came out and it was a great day. Congrats Whit and Jim:

The reception was at Jim (and now Whit's) house. It was really beautiful. For pictures of some of the prep check out Court's post:

In Answer to A Question
Many of you wondered what I do with Clara while I work in my garden. Well, the first solution is that I neglect her, which sometimes can be dangerous so I usually resort to something else. For example, I wait for her to nap. I also rely very heavily, and unfairly I suppose, (I never claimed to be the best parent) on Lucy and Anders (Tuck is hopeless) to watch her. I am not above bribery when it comes to asking the siblings to play with her. They do a really good job, especially Lucy. Fourth, I stick her in the playhouse which keeps her occupied for a good chunk of time.
