Utah for New Years Part 1

Rob had work and we had time off, so we ditched him (sad), and headed East for Utah and family fun.  The drive was uneventful, which is always good.  The night we arrived there was a shindig at Steve and Tiffs for Tiff's birthday, which was a great way to kick off the vacation.

The next morning while some went to Les Mis, Phil, Meags, and I took the kids for laser tag.  For most it was a total blast.  For Lizzy, Beck, and Clara it was a horrifyingly frightening ordeal.
That night was the meal of the year.  The annual Greek fest.  This was hands down one of the best we've ever had.  Everything was amazing. Seriously:

Christmas Day 2012

Everyone woke up and was excited to see what Santa brought:
Smiles all around:

 Presents were unwrapped:
Someone thought she got an American Girl Doll, but actually didn't:

The only food prep that day involved waffles.  The rest of the meals involved lots and lots of chocolate:
Most of the day involved playing with the new toys.  Hexbugs, legos, new easel:

And we finally broke down and got a wii.  I can hardly believe we caved.  But so far so good.  Only allowed on weekends and it hasn't seemed to have taken over our lives.  And you should see when we play Just Dance.  I haven't laughed so hard in ages:

Rob began this puzzle which kept him busy for many days:

It was a very Merry Christmas!

Backing up: Rob Went to Virginia

This post is a bit out of order, but hey, whatever.  Rob had to go to Virginia for a CME (continuing medical education) class.  Lucky.  He and Court got to get together and do some fun things that make me jealous.  They hiked Old Rag:

Ate at the delish BBQ place in Sperryville:

Got to visit the old hood and say hello to the Putnams:

 Eat lots of yummy food:
Spend some time in DC (sigh, makes me so jealous):

Glad he got to go, sad I didn't.  Next time.  Love that place so much.

Christmas Eve 2012

I am soooo far behind on blogging!  It feels as if this all happened eons ago.  But it must be memorialized, so here I give you Christmas Eve at our house.  Lucy and her Father baked some amazing gingerbread cupcakes (I actually think this occurred on Christmas Eve Eve, but who cares, right?)  Everyone got to try their hand at frosting and decorating them.  They were pretty unbelievably delicious.

On the actual Christmas Eve Rob and the kids went up to Mount Rose and got a few runs in.  Clara was warned that if she whined she wouldn't get to go again.  She told me she made sure she whined so she wouldn't have to go again, even though she also said it was the funnest thing in the world.  It's probably hard to be crazy like Clara.
For dinner we went over to our good friend's the Hart for an amazing dinner of Prime Rib.  It was great fun and it was very nice of them to host.  Our good friend's the Breretons were also there.  Here are Gus, Anders, and Oscar trying to figure out the Christmas crackers.
 Some of Rose's festive cupcakes:
 Rose and Phil:
 More of Rose's yummy creations:
Rose, Rose's niece Philomena (here from Italy for a few months), and the lovely and gracious hostess Haley.  I love these ladies.  Such good friends:
 The boys:
 The younger kids:
Back home after dinner Clara was EAGER to open up the traditional PJ's:
Everyone ready for bed so Santa can come:
