Hawaii Part 5: Mana Road

On Thursday Rob had to get up very early and head back down to the Orchid for classes.  I was awake and decided to go back down to the hotel with him and pretend I was a paying guest.  So I spent another glorious morning lounging around at the beach and at the pool.  After Rob's meetings were done we had lunch at Cafe Pesto and then made a brief stop at Waialea where it was kind of cold, but we enjoyed watching a freakishly tattoed girl (who it turns out works at Gallery of Great Things, we saw her there the next day) tight rope walk.  Anyway, after that we went back up to Waimea.
Pod left work and we all enjoyed a beautiful walk out on Mana Road.  So beautiful out there.

I enjoyed pretending the "ruins" were Thornfield Hall from Jane Eyre.  The scenery is freakishly English out there.
This was the end of the line for us, but it would be fun to just keep going and going one day:

After our walk we had a most delicious meal at Pau, which is next to Merrimans.  The waiter was awesome and flirted with Mamo, and the food was excellent.  Then it was back home for a game of vicious gin.  That game is supposedly all about luck, but it feel the same people consistently win and I consistently lose, which either means it requires skills that I don't have or I have really bad luck.  Hmmm.  All in all another fabulous day.

Hawaii, Part 4: Beach, Pololu, and Beach

Wednesday morning we had to check out of the hotel.  Sad.  It was glorious.  Before checking out we walked down the beach and then got in a little pool time.  The hotel was seriously a dream.

This was where we ate breakfast:

Cool puffer fish in the Mana Lani fish pond:

 We enjoyed this man's shirt:

We drove up to Waimea and then the four of us set out for Pololu.  Such a stunning drive:

It was a bit overcast, but as always, was beautiful:

Rob found this rock and had fun photosizing:

 Lunch on the beach:

Then it was time to head up the other side of the valley:

The sun cooperated and came out.  Amazing how much the colors change:

 I loved the moss/lichens:
We drove from Pololu down to Hapuna.  It was so clear:
Rob and Pod decided to play in the waves:

We stayed until sunset, which didn't disappoint:
Back in Waimea we had a delicious dinner at Solomene's and maybe even played a round of vicious gin.
