Birthday Parties

On Tuesday morning we stuck around the house because there was a big surprise birthday party for JLynn planned.  It was very nice with lots of people to show her the love.

After the party everyone but the T&S's headed down to Hapuna, where it was overcast, but that didn't stop anyone:

That night Clara and Tristan did a craft with Tutu:
In the morning the slip and slide got set up and then we headed down to Mauna Kea for another nice beach day.  The snorkeling was great and we had a nice time.  (Oh, yeah, by the way, this was Rob's birthday.)  So after the beach we went for a hike to Anna's Pond and The Place.  It was stormy and dramatic and we all came back drenched.

After the hike Tristan, Shandra, and Betsy had to fly back to Oahu.  Sad.  For Rob's birthday dinner we ate at Pau's and came back to the house for cake and ice cream.

Hamakua Coast Day

On Monday we drove over to Waipio Valley overlook in the morning.  As always, it was beautiful.  We moved from there to Tex's for Malasada's.  Yum.

We stopped briefly at Laupahoehoe and watched the waves crash and climbed some trees:

Next stop was Akaka Falls where Rob almost sacrificed Tristan to Kahuna falls:

We drove on to Hilo where we ate lunch at Cafe Pesto and then headed to Rainbow Falls, which is where we parted company with the group.  They went on the Volcano and we stayed and discovered the worlds most amazing climbing tree and then played in the boiling pots above the falls (notice how low the water is):

After that we found a nice shallow enclosed beach in Hilo.  It was pretty overcast and too cloudy to really enjoy the beach so we headed over to Liliokalani park which was beautiful.  Great day:
