Fall Break: A Great Day in San Francisco

We woke up and checked out of our hotel and headed towards Little Italy (I know this isn't the technical name.  Columbus Street??) to find pastries for breakfast.  I had a delicious eclair and was very happy.  After this we split from my parents.  Our crew headed to the Exploratorium via Coit Tower:

Urban hiking had Clara ready for a rest on the sidewalk:

The Exploratorium opened up last year and is so fun.  Just tons and tons and tons of things to explore.  We spent several hours, and if the crowd had been smaller probably would have lasted a couple more hours:

It happened to be Fleet week in SF and it was fun to see all the ships.  This one from Canada was parked outside the Exploratorium.  My parents were eating lunch in Little Italy and we headed back in that direction to get some food and gelatto:

After we went to Chinatown.  And this time we saw the real Chinatown that felt like a different country and not just the tourist part selling cheap junk.  It was cool:

We rushed down to the Ferry Building hoping to catch the Blue Angels show (thank you fleet week).  It turns out it was the rehearsal and a couple of days later we were able to catch bits of the real show, which was pretty awesome:

We had hotel reservations in Salinas that night and a request for a stop at the American Girl store in Palo Alto, so around 4:00 we decided to head out of town.  On our way we passed an awesome Navy band playing and more ships.  Hooray for fleet week.

It took us about 2 hours to go about 3 miles.  So that was fun.
But we made it here, and someone was pretty pleased:

This girl relived some of her childhood:

She paid with her own money.  Lots of quarters and dimes.  The cashier was very nice.
