Spring Misc.

We did some senior photo shoots.  Not the best, but some turned out.

But we really think this one is the best:
Lucy was inducted into the Cum Laude Society at the SFP senior award assembly.  It was a surprise and we were excessively proud.

Lucy made her decision.  GW!

Anders had a big huge project for history.  A diorama about the Inca's and their social hierarchy.

Clara got top honors for the math olympiad!

Mike and Linda Gibbs came to visit and I went with them to Georgia O'Keefe's home and studio.  It was awesome.  They also came to dinner and we met up another night at a restaurant.  Lucy and I also went with them to the San Felipe Pueblo Corn Dance. It was very fun to see them.  They are lovely people.  I am just sad I got no pictures with them!

The giant mess of a weed patch by our front door got torn out and replanted.  It took me hours of back breaking work.  And it cost a fortune in plants.  And the day after I bought all the plants our new house came on the market and we put in an offer....so, anyway, that was money and labor I'm not sure was well spent.  But I do love a good yard project so maybe it was.

Many blisters were formed from all that weeding and tearing out of shrubs.
Clara did a voluntary project on the geology of the Grand Staircase.

Girl's weekend in Santa Fe

Jennette and Emily came down and we had a lovely Airbnb right near the Plaza and we had a wonderful time.  There is nothing quite so amazing as old friends.  We talked and ate and shopped and hiked and ate and talked and talked.  Bandelier, Tent Rocks, Meow Wolf, Site Santa Fe, The Plaza, and talking and eating....that's what we did.  Loved every minute.

A Trip to GW

Lucy sent in all her applications and when she was accepted to GW, her top choice, she wanted to go take a peek, just to make sure.  We went with her and it was a fun, quick trip to DC where we got to stay with the Homer's, see the cherry blossom madness, and finally go to the African American History museum.

We were not the only ones interested in seeing the Obama portraits.  Man DC sure feels different under the reign of the orange tyrant....

Horrible tacky art has always been with us.  It's just the older stuff is deemed museum worthy.
A quick run through of the American History museum
The blossoms were madness.  I am not sure how I feel about these ridiculous crowds.  I think the crowds, however, were the main attraction, rather than the blossoms. Prime people watching.

This little shop on GW campus made us think of Uncle, clearly.
This hippo was purchased by a Uni pres for his wife, who said, it could live on campus.  So now the hippo is the unofficial mascot.

The African American Museum was incredibly powerful.  At the end was a montage of an Obama speech that made Lucy weep for where we are now.

Anson is a cute little bugger...

Easter 2018

We were lucky to get Shannon, Sophia, and Franklin for Easter weekend.  They were on a long roadtrip for their Spring Break and were kind enough to drop by.  I promised them cinnamon rolls if they came, so I'm pretty sure that clinched the deal.  We had fun showing them Bandaleir.  The kids all went to Meow Wolf while the adults had a nice dinner out.  We dyed eggs, and had a yummy Easter dinner.  So glad to have friends like them.
