Our Fabulous Fourth

I love me a good ol' Provo style 4th of July.  It's my favorite holiday.  Better than Christmas.  And I've been other places for the 4th and found it mightly depressing.  For me it's a Provo 4th or nothing.  So anyway here is how it went.  There was an early morning 5K (almost signed up for the 10K, very glad I didn't) with Phil, Katy, and Meags:

There was the traditional 4th picture on my parents porch and there was also a massive tantrum so there are only 3 of 4 children pictured:
 There was a parade:

There were popsicles and cousins after the parade:

There was discussion of a sighting of a certain boy during the 5K with Auntie Meags:
There was plenty of pool time:
 And poolside time:

There was a lot of air time.  Ollie told me, after I tossed Clara, "My Dad can do that better."  Yup, he could:

There was delicious food, of course:

 There were smoke bombs:

 There were foot races:

There were well intentioned Declarations of Independence:
 There were crazy auntie antics:
 There was some awesome dancing:

And last but not least there was a little rain, some homemade ice cream and fireworks (aerials were legal this year)

 And there was a snuggie:

Omaha, NE

After checking into our hotel which was in our old neighborhood we hopped back in the car and drove over to Village Green.  It was WEIRD and fun to go back and see the old neighborhood.  So many great memories.  Ours was the 2nd one on the far end.  We hit up the playground and then drove to find dinner.  It was really surreal driving around our old town.

In the morning we headed to the place we passed so much of our time during med school (well not Rob, but me and the kids):  The Henry Doorly Zoo.  Best zoo in the country.  It was soooo fun to show the kids around.  Lucy had a few vague memories but for the most part it was all new to them.
 The Lied Jungle:

 The Aquarium:
 The Desert Dome:

 Gorilla Valley:
 Good ol' Ak-Sar-Ben:
It was definitely a steamy hot day and we appreciated the misters:
 Lucy's "Miracle Playground":
The swarming koi were as disgusting as ever:
A cool glass of ice water was much appreciated:

Hooray for Omaha, our old home!
