When Lucy got back from camp and I got back from Utah Rob had a week off. Vacation is way to precious to waste. So Rob planned a little mini-hiking vacation. We drove up to Graegle (Pronounced Gray Eagle, but not by us. We prefer the Tolkien pronunciation of Greeeegle) in Plumas county CA, about an hour from Reno. It was fabulous. We stayed at a nice little motel. It was a great place to discover. I forsee a few Sunday drives to the area. Our first stop was a short walk to Fraizer Fall's that we need to hit up in the springtime. Kind of low on water, but pretty nonetheless:
Next we drove to Sand Pond. This area has tons and tons of lakes and ponds. The impressive mountains in the background are called the Sierra Buttes:
There were a bunch of fun rental cabins around Sardine Lake here that would be a very fun place to come and stay:
That night after a pretty tasty dinner we settled down for bed:
The next morning we got up and going and got to the trailhead for Jamison Lake and discovered someone was wearing these. Grrrr:
An hour later we were back at the trail head in the proper attire and we made our way up up up the mountain. This is gold country and it was a lot of fun to pass by old mining towns and camps:
This was apparently the bath house. The old fashioned bath is still in it:
So many places to hike, so little time!
Jamieson Falls was nice:
We passed by Grass Lake. It was very lovely:
We made it to Jameison Lake and had a lovely picnic:
Rock lake was just up over the hill and so we detoured there and some people swam:
Good times!
