I had one day between getting home from Hawaii and leaving for our girl's East Coast spring break. We celebrated Clara's 12th birthday that Monday. We ate dinner at Andiamo, had Nutella cake, and she opened her presents. We sure love our spicy, determined Clara.

Hawaii
Rob signed up for a breast imaging conference at the Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island. It was a fun week of lot and lots and lots of relaxing pool/beachside, good food, and a little bit of touristing. Rob went a day before me (I stayed for the recital). First thing I did at the airport was spill all over my shirt. I hung it to dry on the empty seat beside me on the first leg of my flight. I guess that is against the rules, because.....? Because who knows.
Rob picked me up we went up to dinner at Bill and JLynn's in Waimea. Rob had classes from 8-noon and I read and walked up to Puoko and swam and worked out and thoroughly enjoyed relaxing. One night we met Mamo and Pod at Merriman's for dinner. Another at Sensei. Yum.
The weather wasn't the best. It was fine, but a bit windy and a bit cool. But we managed. We wanted to hike Pololu, but it was pretty stormy. We drove through Kohala and ate lunch at Village Burger which is super pricey, but tasty. We went to Waipio overlook and then got malasada's at Tex's. Guava, mango, and plain, or ketchup and mustard?
Prime spot for sunset, at the resort.
Poor selfie skills
Had a lovely afternoon at Waialea. So pretty.
Our last day after checking out, we shared a breakfast at Hawaiian Style and met Mamo and Pod for a fun day. Went to the botanical gardens and Akaka and Rainbow falls. Ate at Cafe Pesto, and when we drove home there was the most spectacular sunset in the history of sunsets. Beeeeeeeutiul. We said goodbye and flew home that night, happy to get back to our kids.
Impossible to capture the magic sunset.
