This was the day we drove the Inishowen Peninsula. We began the morning in Buncara on the "Amazing Grace" walk. We were back in Ireland in County Donegal, which isn't as touristy as some of the Southern counties. This was where the man who wrote that song washed up on shore and was converted to a good life. It was a lovely not touristy walk.
This manor house was sitting empty and falling apart. I want to buy it and fix it up.
An old fort
Next we drove the Mamore Gap, which was lovely and pictures really don't capture the scale.
This castle was listed in some guide book, but strangely sat next to a working farm driveway, not a tourist attraction, just a ruin on some guy's property.
We did a quick and lovely hike to Glenavin waterfall.
More sheep than people in Ireland
The best stop of the day was Malin Head. This is about as far North as you can get on the main land of Ireland. The 80 Eire was so German bombers would fly over, since Ireland was neutral in the war. The views were so pretty here. The coast maginificent. We explored the tower and then hiked along the cliff to "Hell's Hole"
The bumpy moss wasn't moss, but these strange little tree-like plants.
After we drove to Culdaff Beach. The Irish beaches sure beat California beaches. Seems a grand place to spend summers.
We ended up at our hotel near Enniskillen, at the Manor House Country Hotel. It was right on a lake and was fun to stay somewhere posh.
