Need Your Help

I have a project I am involved with.  We have a group called One Heart (based on Acts 4:32)  We raise money to help provide micro-credit in El Salvador.  Lately we have taken on a new project, and are trying to raise money to help an incredible guy named Guillermo help run an orphanage in Guatemala.  Read about it here.  We normally raise money through small monthly contributions (a big group of people donating a small amount of money, eventually adds up to make a difference).  I would like to have a big fundraiser.  We did a yard sale a few years ago and raised $400.00, and our bake sale raised $200.00 (which in microcredit terms is great).  I'd like to do better this time.  In June I want to hold a big yard sale/craft sale/bake sale.  I don't have any details such as location and date yet and would like some feedback.  If you would like to donate items let me know.  If you have any good ideas on how to make this a killer fundraiser, let me know too.  If anyone has a great, high traffic location we could hold the event, let me know.  I'l advertise on KSL's site and wherever else you all think. I plan on taking fliers around the neighborhood, requesting peoples crap to sell. (One man's junk is another's treasure, right?)  Anyway, I need your help to make this happen.

Welcome back! What a great idea. I wish I could contribute to the yard sale and sadly my baking skills are lacking...however, I will contribute the fee that I charge for one session while I'm in Utah to your wonderful cause.

Also, maybe advertise on a few largely known blogs in the area...I have 3 I could recommend. I know that would get the word out.

You could also get some teen who is working on his Eagle project to help you out. He would also get the word out as well...maybe even 2 or 3 teens would want to do it?

let me know what else I can do to help. I think it's great what you're doing.

I'd be happy to donate some "stuff" and make some earrings, and make some treats. I also offer my yard, not because it is the best option, it may be to sunny and only moderate traffic. A majority of the people driving by are students. I'd also be happy to whip up a design for it, if that will help.

I have tons of stuff to donate, I can also bake and maybe Ross can work on his Eagle (I have to check into that).
I helped with a fund raising yard sale a few years ago. Some went to various local business and got them to donate items, gift certificates (this is what the restaurants give) or services (they usually have a budget for such things)and we had a silent auction for these. We raised several thousand dollars. We got a UCCU, which was on a high traffic road, to let us use their parking lot on a Saturday.
Let me know if you need anything, I am happy to help.

Count me in. I can bake stuff. I may even have some stuff to sell. School ends June 6th, so after that, I'll be pretty darn free.

Anna, I have done an auction for Laura's school. It is actually our main fundraiser. Business' donate items and then you do an auction. You can do a silent auction as well. Lots of people have things to donate. Hopefully this makes sense, I am so sleepy!

Sounds great. I really want to help because I have been so bad about sending my checks. We will be gone for a week in June so hopefully we can do it when we will be around. I can bake and round up some stuff to sell. I don't have a great location to volunteer. But I will help however you need me.

I have crap to sell! I'd love to see it go! Especially to a good cause. Let's get together sometime. What's it been like 12 years now? It's probably time don't you think?
