I put this book on hold about 6 weeks ago at the library and finally got to pick it up yesterday. I got totally sucked in. The main character is amazing and the story is heart breaking at times, but so wonderful too. It makes me so grateful to be alive now and not to have been a pioneer. I loved it. I have done little else but read it. Man, I have been craving a really good fiction read, the kind that makes you neglect your children and ignore everything in life but the book. A book that was as satisfying to read as Anne of Green Gables was back in 6th grade. Anyway, this book was recommended on Desperate For a Good Read, and since it was so long ago, I just wanted to heartily second the recommendation.

I am so happy to hear that you loved this. After the many recommendations from Desperate for a Good Read for this book - I just ordered this from Amazon. It will arrive any day and now I am really excited!
My mom recently ran into Desperate for a Good Read and was excited to have it as a resource.
I will have to keep this book in mind to read soon. I can never add a book post because I am always reading the great books that have been recommended...thanks so much for setting up that blog.

I read this on my trip to St. George. It was hard to not neglect my family I was so involved in the story! I also really, really liked this book. Good, good fiction.
