Last night at 9:30 Clara put herself to bed. She was just too tired to wait any longer for her parents to get the job done, so she did it herself.
Bedtime for the kids this summer? Dunno. Whenever, usually.
Naptime for the children way back when? Top priority. Children need naps and schedules. Life revolved around naptime. Now? Clara gets a nap if she falls asleep in the car.
Late? Never! In the olden days I would never be late. But now, well, things are different. How was I ever on time?
Showers?
We are fully chlorinated but there just hasn't been time for showers all week. Besides, we are swimming again today anyway, so why bother? The fact that we swim almost every day seems to be a deterrent not an incentive to shower. Yeah, kind of gross. (not me, the kids).
The other day we had to make a trip to Lowes. This time we were the family I used to scorn, dragging their tired kids to a store for a late night trip with an exhausted temper tantrumy two year old.
Yup, pretty much we are really awesome parents. Life is just too busy and crazy to keep it all together. I guess once you are outnumbered you just have to let go a bit.

It definitely is the outnumbered thing!
Remember it is summer!! There isn't a whole lot of room for schedules. I am sure when you get the kids in school again life will slow down and the routine will fall into place:)
Hey that sounds just like our family! Wes loooves to count swimming trips as baths. I guess it sanitizes them to some degree. I kind of like summer just for the reason that we can let the kids stay up late and miss naps and let our hair down a little bit. And then by the end of summer I am totally ready for routine again!
This is me. Except my kids have been going to bed at 11 or later, getting up at 9:30. Its what summer is all about! and I bet they're loving it... now getting back into a school routine in a few weeks is a whole different story!
I agree - it sounds like summer to me. And you guys sound like you are living it up - which is awesome! :)
sounds CRAZY but fun. you are amazing to be able to do as much as you do with FOUR kids. i can't even fathom the insanity. :)
I love it. Swimming totally counts as bathing. Between the gym and pool, there's just no point in showering, you're always getting dirty again anyway. Missing you guys!
You just wrote about my life! The shower thing and the bedtime thing. I can't figure out why I can't get them done. My kids hair feels like straw.
Good work. They are happy and quite alive.
D.
Showers are overrated anyways.
This is totally our summer too. But it's one of the things that I love about summer and miss when we get back into the routine of the year. I shudder to think what it would be like if we always lived like this, but for a few months, I relish it.
