The day after Thanksgiving we got busy kicking off the Christmas season. We started by meeting up with the cousins for a viewing of this. I enjoyed it, although I don't know if everyone did. I had no expectations and Jim Carrey didn't bug me, which is unusual. It was pretty close to the book. Too scary for Clara who kept her head burrowed in my shoulder for most of the movie. I kind of liked that. She isn't so snuggly these days. After we drove over to Grandview and bought our tree at Baums. The next day we had our annual deck the halls party. These pictures may be pretty indiscernible from years past, but that's the idea behind traditions, right?

"To Twismas" a traditional toast:

Lucy leading the charge?
Rob lit a bonfire, which really did quite the job heating
the house up. I was toasty!!!
Trimming the tree

I think we should use this for this years Christmas card

I love Christmas time! I'm jealous that your shopping is almost done, I haven't even really started yet. Dang!
i am excited to see a christmas carol. it looks fun.
this post made me excited for my kids to get older and be able to help decorate the tree. fun!
I love that you do a feast when getting out your decorations, great tradition!
Can I say that I didn't care for The Christmas Carol? Some parts were good, and I liked the 3D, but I thought it was a little dark and scary for kids. But I guess thats how the book goes. I think I'm going to stick to Mickey Mouse's version though.
What fun! I love the feast idea, too! And your fireplace is making me jealous, I think that would be just the thing with all this snow! :)
Hard to believe it's time for Christmas! Don't think I've ever seen fire in your fireplace before -- nice. Great traditions!
If I remember correctly, the decorating party had some issues last year. So I'm glad all went well this year.
D.
What a fun tradition. I think the tree looks great and fire added to the setting:) I don't think that should be the Christmas card. I really think you should do the one you have talked about doing.
I LOVE this season, and you really kick it off right! We did our tree this weekend, too, and had a fire yesterday. Sure made it feel like Christmas:-)
I heard the movie was not very good. I think the majority of my kids would be scared too.
