On Thursday the kids had the day off of school for parent teacher conferences. So that afternoon we drove to Sky Meadow State Park and did some exploring. It is a beautiful place, somewhat untouched by development. Andrew Mellon bought up all the land to save it from being ruined by subdividing builders. We got to hike through a pasture full of cows, cross stiles over stone fences. It felt very English (although one would have wished for sheep not cows in that case), which of course endeared the place to me. Sadly I forgot my camera. So on Saturday we took Courtney and a camera back (the boys were missing as they opted for swimming with some friends). We took a longer hike this time. It really was lovely and I am looking forward to seeing this place in the spring.
This is the cow pasture, but apparently they had been taken away for the winter so we just hiked in their manure instead.
Clara hid along the way and jumped out to scare the "tuna salad" out of us. Over and over and over and over and over and over. It kept her moving right along. She must have run over a mile with all the scaring she did.

Are you still going to take me there too? I feel like you will be sick of doing all the things I want to do when I get there!
There seems to be no end of new places to explore. Love it!
It all looks quite, well, pastoral, in the very best way.
