I suppose I should add some commentary. It was good. Really good, but the production wasn't as spectacular or goosebump inspiring as the original. I still haven't won Rob over to musicals.
Too bad it didn't knock your socks off. What was done differently? Or could it just be that the novelty's worn off. I've loved it both times I've seen it -- but knowing what was coming, the second time was probably slightly less exciting than the first.
I just have to say, "Good on ya, Rob." He went even though he doesn't like musicals (or is it theater in general?). If that's not some language of love, I don't know what is.
It was much smaller scale. The big set with the moving stage was gone. The Thernardiers didn't do a bring the house down performance. The production was still good, but not as powerful. And for whatever reason all the dialogue singing was super verbrato-ish and it was difficult to understand. And to make it harder to understand the orchestra was playing over the singing most of the time which was annoying!!! It was still good, just not on the same scale as the original production. I think revivals should exactly copy the original :)
oh and Eponine also morphed into a kind of glee-like R&B thing a couple of times which really stinks because her clear beautiful voice is one of the best parts of the play for me.

So how was it? I have enjoyed it everyw time I've seen it.

Bummer it wasn't amazing. If Les Mes doesn't win Rob over, I suppose nothing will.

Did the kids like it?
I'm glad we went, even if it wasn't the best production. You may not be allowed to see it anymore.
Maren, I think they liked it okay, but it did drag at times and they got fidgety.
