Our first visitors, my parents, arrived in Santa Fe and we were mighty happy to have them. We started out the night before with green chili cheeseburgers at Santa Fe Bit (green chili burgers may be hands down the very very best part of New Mexico. Oh the love). The next morning we took the dog for a walk up the Arroyo by St. John's College with me Dad.
We headed to the historic district which is a hop skip and jump from our house. First stop was the Loretto Chapel with this miracle staircase. Not sure what is miraculous about it, but people love a good miracle, so why not?
Next was Saint Miguel's which is called the oldest church in North America. It's kind of crazy after Europe what constitues old in the USA, but still, pretty historic, and cool. Can you say adobe?
Across the way is the oldest house in the USA.
On our way to the Plaza we stopped in at a gallery and Pop-pop enjoyed a break on the bench outside.
I love the chili rastras. I don't know how to spell that.
There are a million festivals and celebrations in Santa Fe. It's a tourist town and they know how to keep people coming. This particular week was Fiesta with the giant and beloved burning of Zozobra (which we missed because we were afraid of crowds, but will go to it next year). The plaza had vendors and spicy food a plenty.
The Palace of the Governors always has vendors from the various pueblos. We found some nice treasures. The plaza is also a nice place for Pokemon Go.
This chilie relleno burrito was HOT HOT HOT. But after the initial pain, one adapts and it was pretty tasty.
Trying to quench the fire.
Taco Lucy is in heaven in taco land New Mexico
We stopped in some shops and then headed up to the Cathedral
Kitchy, but fun.
Waiting for Grammy who was purchasing something for Evey.
Santa Fe has about a million museums. It's overwhelming. We went to our first one on Museum Hill, the Native American Culture Museum. It was pretty cool.
I believe the adults went out for Brazillian food in the evening. All in all, not a bad touristy day.

It was a splendid day! The staircase is miraculous because St. Joseph, the carpenter of Joseph-and-Mary fame, showed up to build it. Rastras is spelled ristras. :)
Well that was nice of Joseph. Hope he had a green chili cheeseburger while he was in town.
Fun! Glad they could visit. Love the green you've got there. It's surprising.
Gotta come! Parts remind me of Cusco!
