Utah Trip: Walks

No summer trip to Utah would be complete without some good walks.  We did the canal walk a few times and I got up well well before dawn a couple of times to walk with my Dad in order to beat the heat.  I'm an early riser, but man, that was my limit:

One evening my Dad, Emily, and I set out for a walk and then gale force winds broke loose!  It was nuts!  But fun.

Utah Trip: Two attempts at Timpanooke

We wanted to check out the Timpanooke trail and made plans to rise early and drive up.  It was cloudy, and as we headed up the canyon stormy.   We were optimistic, but it really was too rainy to attempt.  Instead we enjoyed the stunning rainy mountain views of the Alpine Loop:

Round 2 the weather was much more cooperative and we had a lovely hike.  For my money, though, if you are hiking Timp the Aspen Grove trail is STUNNING.  This trail is beautiful, but I think it can't compare to Aspen Grove.

Utah Trip: Shopping for Art

For a lot of years Rob and I have talked about collecting art.  There are some new Utah artists we have been following on Instagram and this trip we decided to visit some galleries.  Rob had a weekend in Utah and we hit up Meyer Gallery in Park City to pick out some Jeff Pugh paintings.  It was not an easy decision.  At all.  Here is what we walked away with:

Trying to narrow down the options.
 They were very patient:
 The support crew:
The next week after Rob left we went to SLC to visit some galleries.  Evergreen gallery had some great stuff, but we didn't get anything there......yet ;)  Jeff Pugh, and Justin Wheatley's at Evergreen were lovely:

I am a Justin Wheatley fan, but so far we don't have any of his:

They had some gorgeous giant Jeff Pughs:

Then we hit up David Ericson Fine Art gallery.  Oh man.  Great stuff.  We got this little guy:
We got this Linda Etherington that I love.  Linda married Rob, who was a student on Study Abroad back in the day.  They were dating at the time and she sent Rob letters with very artistically decorated envelopes.  I remember because sorting the mail was a favorite hobby:

We bought this lovely Kathy Peterson.  This is of Spring City which has become a Utah artist colony:

The kids admiring a lovely Kershisnik:
Earlier this year I comissioned this Annie Blake and we bought a few Caitlyn Connoly prints.  I would love an original oil by her.  I love her work:

While in Utah my mom took me to meet Conrad Nebeker.  He worked in the mailroom with her while at BYU studying art.  He hadn't been painting much since graduating becauase he wasn't selling anything.  He had no online presence, which is sort of essential if you want to sell your art, so we begged him to start an instagram account.  He has.  And has been painting up a storm.  These little gems I purchased for a steal:

And so our collection grows.  Very exciting and fun.
