Girl's Spring Break: Part 6

On Monday we drove into the city and started at the Archives.  We were joined by Anson and Court, but Anson was pretty much in need of an all day nap.

We met up with Lucy at the American History museum and said goodbye to the Homers for the day.  Lucy only stayed with us for the museum as she had much work to do.
Clara and I went to the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery.

Then we went to the Renwick and saw the temple from the Burning Man exhibit.
We meandered past the white house where Clara told Trump "Your Father smells of elderberries and your mother is a cow."
We walked to GW where we met LJ and took the metro to Falls Church where Court had prepared us a feast .
Tuesday Lucy was swamped.  The Homers joined us in the am at Arlington.  Clara was skeptical about visiting a cemetery but I think she understood why its a tourist attraction when all was said and done.  Spring was just around the corner.
.

Anson, once again in need of a nap left with his mama, and Clara and I metroed to Alexandria.  We were stoked for the fish and chips shop, which sadly was closed on Tuesdays.  Such a bummer.  We toured the Carlile house and went to the Gadsby Tavern room (the original is actually at the Met).

We met Lucy and her friends for dinner in Foggy Bottom and ate at Founding Farmers.  It was fun to meet her friends.  Then we wandered up past the White House and thoroughly enjoyed the demonstrations of the evening.  We couldn't agree more with the Unfit sentiments.

We met up with Courtney for a ride home at the Africant American museum where she had class that night.  The moon was full and it was lovely.

Girl's Spring Break Part 5

On Sunday morning we put our luggage in storage at the Sonder (the place we stayed) and wandered through wall street to Battery Park.  Then we subwayed uptown.

Our first stop uptown was Levain's.  This place is really really so very good.  The baguette with butter and jam is one of my very very very favorites.  And the cookies can't be beat.
We meandered through the park.  It was chilly and crowded do to a half marathon.

The Met was next.  Not sure Clara was a big fan, but the rest of us enjoyed ourselves and photbombed.

The famous Hastings joker face was found in this Dutch painting.

We were very excited about the Scientology Celebrity Center (????)
We went back downtown and got delicious delicious Joe's pizza before getting our bags and heading to the car.
We made a pit stop in Delaware on Jennette's birthday and enjoyed dinner and cake made by Adam.  So fun to get to see Jennette.

As far as New York trips go this one was pretty awesome!  So glad we went!!!!

Girl's Spring Break Part 4

In the morning the girl's power posed and then we made our way to the tenemant museum, via some pastries. The Tenement Museum is one of my favorite places in NYC.  We did the "modern" tour, with immigrants from the 50's-70's.  It was fascinating, as always.

After our tour we went back down and got tickets at the Southstreet Seaport TKTS.  Next up was the Brooklyn Bridge.  Why why why is everything so much more crowded than it used to be?  Oh well.  Still cool.

By city hall these guys were wowing the crowds with their moves.
We wandered up to Chinatown for amazing dumplings at Tasty Dumpling.  Anytime you can feed four people in NYC for under eight dollars it feels like a miracle.  The fact that they are indeed tasty only adds to it.  After lunch we went in search of mangosteen but only found the nectar.

Little Italy was next...

And then a stop at Dominque Ansel.  I was skeptical the lines would be worth it, but the Kouign Amman is definitely worth it.

We walked up the highline, which was, like the bridge, packed.  The #reisisthighline house was amusing.  We stumbled onto Hudson Yards and had no idea what it was, only that it was a zoo.  Turns out it was the opening day.

We took the subway to Grand Central and walked up to 5th ave and Rockerfellar and St. Patrick's, etc.  It was St. Patrick's Day and 5th ave was closed to traffic from the parade.  It was grand because we missed the crowds, but got the benefits.

A quick stop at the new American Girl Store.  These girl's have happy memories of their dolls.

We ate dinner in Hell's Kitchen at a Thai restaruant.  We are so fun.
Pre-play freezing cheesecake picnic.
We saw The Band's Visit, which was so excellent.  We all loved it.  Unique, interesting, kind, well done, etc.

A most excellent day!
