Rob says when he pulls out his lunch at work people are so impressed with me. They must picture Rob living with a Donna Reed dream wife. He just smiles and kindly lets them think the best of me. He is a nice guy that way. He really is.
In twelve years of marriage I don't know that I've ever packed him a lunch. That would take planning and thoughtfulness. Neither of those are my strong suits. I mean really, it is about more than I can bear to think that in a week and a half I am going to have to start packing lunches for the kids again. Every single morning. For a whole school year. And now Anders will be going full day too, requiring one more lunch to be made. And honestly, I think I may have to train the kids to pack their own lunches, because I'm totally over it. Totally. I'm over lots of things. Like making dinner every night for a pretty unappreciative audience (what is this green stuff? sigh, sob, sigh) and spending a large portion of my day picking up Polly Pocket shoes and lego-man heads, and folding endless piles of laundry. I'm over it. And wiping pee off the seat. Argh! Completely over it. Of course that doesn't mean I'm going to stop doing it, because sometimes when you don't do it and someone comes over and asks to use the bathroom and you cringe, suddenly remembering the yellow polka-dot seat (not to mention the yellow sprayed shower curtain) you are completely mortified. But I'm over it nonetheless. I've noticed that life tends to go in cycles. So sometimes I go through phases where I'm not over it, or at least I'm a little less over it than other times. Hopefully soon I can get into a "I heart housework" and "when we're helping we're happy" mode.
Anyway the point is, thank goodness Rob loves me anyway. Because he doesn't get mad or irritated when I am in an "over it" phase. Back when we were newlywed babies (and I mean babies. Seriously, I just saw the pictures. We were YOUNG!) I think I probably thought I'd make him a nice lunch to take to work everyday. But I never got around to it. But I love him anyway. And I love him because he loves me anyway.
Happy Anniversary Rob.

Ohhhhh. I loved that post. And I love you and Rob as a couple. Happy anniversary!
Congrats, babe. I remember well your reception at MOA. I didn't think you looked like babies, but on the other hand, I know I was one (judging by the bridal pics hanging over the stairs--it really doesn't look legal)... I know what you mean on housework. But think of all the time to fill when more kids are in school and you are desperate for things to do? Maybe that will help you heart housework... :)
Congratulations on your anniversary and having married such a great guy: a trophy son in law.
Enjoy the pee; those babies will be gone so soon that it will make your head spin.
It wouldn't hurt to let them make their own lunches and, of course, when your meals are questionable to the kids, just remember the borscht. You are all appreciative eaters now.
D.
Right now I am over all things relating to being a housewife...dishes, cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. but I am blaming it on well you know. Congrats on your anniversary!
You guys are a fabulous couple. And he really is a great guy. Congratulations on a happy life together....which, really, is in part because you're not stressing about making him lunches and he's not upset about your not doing it.
Congratulations you guys. Anna you look exactly the same-- young and beautiful. Housework is certainly not the part of marriage to get excited about, but adding up all these years together is exciting.
I do school lunches because I am so over making lunches. - not as nutritious, but it takes away the headache.
Congratulations on your anniversary! It's crazy how long it's been. I'm glad you love each other despite your "faults." And I'm secretly glad that you don't make lunches for Udon because I don't know that I'll ever be a lunchmaker either.
Happy Anniversary! I think that after 12 years I have finally recovered from the trauma of your wedding day. We all heart you, not in spite of your "over it" cycles, but, perhaps, in some ways, because of them.
I still think of you both looking just as you do in that picture. Wasn't that just yesterday?
That was a great post. Happy anniversary:) I love the picture!
Dear Anna,
I can't even think where you got that "over it" mentality...I ALWAYS loved making lunches that were thrown away at school, cooking delicious meals that my children ALWAYS (complained) err.... ate without complaining and keeping the toys perfectly organized. I guess the most important thing is that your kidlets know you love them.
Just like I love you and yours.
Mom
What a fun anniversary post! :) Congrats on 12 years!
I don't think you've changed a bit! Thanks for the all your work in preparing for last week. It was wonderful! (Wish I could say I'm excited to be home!)
I love you both in that picture! You look fantastic - fresh and young. Happy Anniversary to some of our greatest friends ever!
Happy Anniversary! The lunch thing cracks me up... I did pack Jake a lunch every night for 6 years or so and stuck it in the fridge for the next morning... poor guy. After that I couldn't get him to eat a homemade sandwhich for months! Enjoy your own made lunches Rob! it could be worse, haha! :)
Are you starting an "over it" club, where we can come and vent and be irritated together, because I want to join!!
I don't think I've ever made a lunch for my husband either. I do try to keep the fridge stocked with yogurt and fruit, which he grabs on his way out the door. But some days I don't even get that done, and he stares into the empty fridge and says "What am I going to have for lunch?" to which I might reply, "There's always mayonnaise." Not a good wife. Sometimes I think I should make him lunches and write little love notes on the napkins . . . but it hasn't happened yet.
ha ha. i love it. thank you for being one person who is HONEST on her blog! :) happy anniversary!
