Utah Part 1

Clara and I shared the front guest room at my parents.  On the first night after everyone was there, when we were going to bed,  Clara sighed happily and said, "A whole month!"  When we are in Utah, kids roll out of bed, feed themselves, and then meet up with cousins.  We don't see them all day.  Between the park, Soelbergs, Opa and Annies, Grammy and Pop-pops they manage to entertain themselves from sunup to sundown.  Dreamy.  It's like visiting the 1950's where kids are allowed to play unsupervised.  So anyway....
I begged my Dad to let me plant flowers as the beds and planters had been neglected.  That was good fun for me.

We met up with the Montezes and went up to Sundance and I took them to see the cabin.  We dropped off Clara and went up to SLC.  Shannon came with me to the airport to pick up Lucy and we met Shelby, Davis, Sophia, and Franklin for dinner.  After dinner we wandered around the UofU campus in hopes of enticing Sophia.

"A whole month!"
We started the 4th with a 5k.  Beck and I stuck together which was good fun.  Not often you get one on one time with a niece or nephew and so we had a grand chat as we ran along the route.

After the race and breakfast we swam at the rec center.
Then some of us headed up to the cabin to meet up with the HDT cousins and hike to the falls.  I am always blown away by how lucky we were to have Brickerhaven as a retreat growing up.  And the Stewart Cirque?!  It's magical and incredible.

Back to the compound for hanging out, picnic at Opa and Annie's, races, and fireworks.  We sure love a Provo Farth.  I was VERY happy to hand the racemaster torch to Madi and Erick.

Wedding prep was a major theme of the summer.  Millie was camp director this summer for her stake and so wasn't going to be back from camp in time to do the flowers.  So she gave us a tutorial.  Not sure all of us are as gifted as she, but it was fun and we learned the basics.

The cousin, playing outside all day thing is magical. And those mountains. Also - from an earlier post - I could really go for some P712 right now.
