Saturday, after President Hinckley's funeral we headed down to Utah county, where we met up with our friends the Spencers. We drove out through Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain and through Cedar Fort to the itsy bitsy town of Camp Floyd. Every winter bald eagles come to roost there and we got to see them. It was very cool. I think the kids had more fun feeding the horses, but I really enjoyed watching the eagles. Emily claims that there are usually more, but I was impressed. They were really beautiful. We also peeked in the windows at the historical Inn that used to be a Pony Express stop and the old schoolhouse. After we drove through Eagle Mountain. It is a very odd place. A bunch of houses in the middle of nowhere. As far as we could tell there were no grocery stores, no gas stations, no places of business. What is the deal with that place? As far as I can tell it is a place for Utah developers to go nuts and ruin a perfectly good place with absolutely no planning; sprawl at its worst. We stopped in Lehi for dinner at Porters Place. The weather was beautiful, the company was great, and we all had a wonderful day. We saw eagles, horses, a badger (?), a herd of antelope, and some deer. We had a great time, so thanks for the invitation Spencer family!

It was a great day! I am so glad we went with your family. Thanks!
Fun. Looks COLD!! Did you like Porter's?
So you were out in our neck of the woods, eh? We just moved to Eagle Mountain about 6 months ago. We have never actually been to the "city center" of actual Eagle Mountain. We live in the Ranches. (You pass those on the way in to Eagle Mountain "city center".) It's a really funny set-up. About 2/3 of the population of Eagle Mountain lives in the Ranches. From what we've been told, it seems that some young hotshot doctor from New York who made way too much money too fast decided to try his hand at land development and came out here to Utah and created Eagle Mountain. However, he didn't really know what he was doing because there are tons of problems with the utility and water systems. Things didn't go too well for him and I think he ended up selling out to someone else and giving it up. So there you have the grand history of Eagle Mountain. In its defense however, it is a pretty place, not overcrowded (like most of the wasatch front), and it is one of the only places in Utah county that young families can afford to buy a house.
That's awesome that you guys went bald eagle watching!!! We are headed up to Farmington to do that next weekend.
The pictures are great. You guys know how to have fun. It was fun to see you, if only for a minute. Tell Tucker I'm sad because he wouldn't let me plant a kiss on the top of his head.

Loved the pictures especially the ones with the horses. I didn't know bald eagles could be seen there...so cool! And that school house would be divine for picture taking :)
Such fun adventures! You'll need to take us out there some time.
What fun! Don't know that I've ever seen an eagle.
Dad H.
That looks like a little piece of Utah paradise! What a fun day. I'm dying that we weren't there to tag along with the rest of you.
