Tucker and I left early to head up to Lander Wyoming for Tucker's NOLS course. It was a BEAUTIFUL drive through the Rockies of Colorado, but also a mega storm hit that day and we were doing a lot of white knuckle driving. Mostly very heavy rain, but some snow. When we got to Wyoming the rain stopped. We spent the night in Rawlins and had decent Thai food. In the morning we made the drive from Rawlins to Lander. Beautiful country.
Becuase of the weather we only got pics of the Wyoming portion of the drive.
This is a famous climbing area and it is calling out to Tucker.
We stopped for the stunning view of the Wind Rivers. Read this sign. It claims long ago that the range stood 60,000 feet. That is HUGE. Like did the mountains cover the entire state, because seriously that is HUGE.
Tucker with his home away from home for the next month in the distance.
We made it to Lander. NOLS owns the old Noble hotel which is a dorm for their students. Tucker was probably the first to arrive. We walked around the town a bit, had breakfast and then because I had a 13 hour drive ahead of me I took off. Meanwhile Tucker hung out at a coffee shop where he met some fellow NOLS students. Crazy that I just left him, but he was fine, and had the most incredible month. Meanwhile I decided to drive home via Eastern Colorado rather than risk snow on the mountainous route. LOOOOOOONG drive. But beautiful and with a good audiobook, it was fine. Spent the night in Colorado Springs and made it home on Monday afternoon.
